Congress MP in Rajya Sabha K Chiranjeevi on Saturday publicly criticised the state Congress leadership in no gentle terms and faulted it for the “sorry state of affairs” in the state.
“The report given by the Dharmana Prasada Rao’s committee to strengthen the party has been put aside. It is true there is no coordination in the party. Nobody is putting in an effort to bring unity among party leaders.
For instance, though our government has prepared the SC/ST sub-plans, lack of coordination among leaders is creating hurdles in publicising these plans,” he told a gathering of Youth Congress leaders at a brainstorming organised by Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao at Jubilee Hall here.
“Indecisiveness is plaguing the party leadership. I told this to Sonia Gandhi madam also and requested her to take firm decisions on any issue so that we can prepare the people of the state to face those decisions,” Chiranjeevi said.
He went on to liken Congress to a crumbling house.
“Once I enter a house, I wish for my safety in it. The house should be strong enough to face a cyclone or a Tsunami. If the house is so weak and ready to fall, I would definitively be insecure.”
The actor-turned politician also alleged that there were ‘coverts’ weakening the party from within. “They (coverts) enjoy power and get all benefits in the Congress but are turning out to be traitors to the party. They eat here, they get good positions here but sing paeans to some other parties. We should be wary of them,” he told a gathering of Youth Congress leaders at a brainstorming organised by Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao at Jubilee Hall here Saturday.
Warning about “snakes in the grass”, the actor-turned-politician said: “Some are getting good posts with the help of the party. After getting those posts, they are looting public money. Later, they are becoming disloyal to the party. Be aware of those leaders who bite the hand that feeds them.”
