Chennithala writes to Sonia, PM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following his visit to the Mullaperiyar dam and tremor-hit areas in Idukki district on Wednesday, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has written  letters to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday. In his letter, Chennithala sought steps to conduct studies on the recurring tremors in Idukki by availing of the services of  experts from the country and abroad. He urged measures by the Central Government to prepare the ground to work out an out-of-the-court settlement on the dam issue.Among the other demands include keeping the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam to 120 ft, measures for disaster management and steps to restore the confidence of the people.
