New Delhi: Central government schools like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) in Delhi have fared better than private schools in this year's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examination, an official statement said on Monday.
At 91.20 per cent and 95.53 per cent, the pass percentage of JNV and KVs respectively has been better than of the private schools, which have a pass percentage of 90 per cent, said the CBSE.
The pass percentage of both JNVs and KVs, however, dropped in the capital -- from 96.52 per cent in 2011 to 91.20 per cent this year for JNVs and 95.63 per cent last year to 95.53 this year for KVs.
According to the CBSE, "private unaided schools" are schools run by a society/trust constituted and registered under the provisions of central/state legislations. While KVs and JNVs are autonomous institutions which get funding from the central government, government schools are run by the state government.
The pass percentage of private schools in Delhi has increased from 89.71 per cent in 2011 to 90 percent this year.
Government schools in Delhi registered a pass percentage of 87.70 percent this year against last year's 87.53 per cent.
Nation-wide, the pass percentage of JNVs has gone down from 96.87 per cent in 2011 to 95.96 percent this year, while the KVs have registered 94.13 per cent, up from 2011's 93.42 per cent.
