HYDERABAD: Minister for handlooms and textiles P Shankar Rao lodged a complaint with the Central Crime Station on Wednesday alleging that he had received threatening calls from an unidentified person. J Satyanarayana, deputy commissioner of police (crime) told Express that they received a complaint from B Manya Naik, the minister’s personal security officer (PSO) that a person had called up the minister’s mobile 9703293939 around 9 pm on Tuesday and threatened to kill him. The call came from the mobile number of 8341671252 and was received by the minister’s PSO. The caller warned over phone he would kill Shankar Rao and blow up his house with bombs. Based on the complaint, the CCS police registered a case under Section 66 (A) Information Technology Act of 2008 and Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 511 (attempting to commit offences) of IPC, and took up investigation. The minister had alleged in the past also that he received threat calls from unidentified persons after he filed a petition against Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The Task Force police arrested a temple priest and his relative who allegedly made threatening phone calls to textile minister Shankar Rao and several other public representatives from the city.
