The NCERT books are high in demand among the medicine aspirants after the Union government had made the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) mandatory for pursuing MBBS degree. The nonavailability of the books, which cover the new syllabus, is proved to be a good opportunity for the bookshop owners to earn fast bucks. Some book sellers at Eluru Road and Alankar Theatre centre in the city are selling the photostat copies of the NCERT books at MRP of the books. They are making good money as medicine aspirants are not hesitating to buy those copies at any prices.

Speaking to Express, the owner of Chandana Book Sellers at Benz circle said that he had sold 20 NCERT books available with him within couple of days after the centre announced NEET. But, as many as 50 students and parents are approaching the shop everyday for the NCERT books. The owner of Ashok Book Stalls, the lone dealer for the NCERT books in the city said he had sold 500 sets of books in a week.
