The music of 'Pi's Lullaby' is by Mychael Danna and the official page credits Jayashri with the lyrics.

Including his nominations this year for Original Score, this is the second Academy Award nomination for Danna.

The other contenders in the Original Song category are: 'Before My Time' from 'Chasing Ice', J Ralph; 'Everybody Needs a Best Friend' from 'Ted,' Walter Murphy and Seth MacFarlane; 'Skyfall' from 'Skyfall,' Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth and 'Suddenly' from 'Les Miserables,' Claude-Michel Schonberg, Herbert Kretzmer and Alain Boublil.

Pi, the son of zookeepers in Pondicherry finds the world he knows swept away when his family sells the zoo and sets sail for Canada with a few of its remaining animals. A storm capsizes the ship and only Pi escapes, set adrift in a lifeboat that is also the refuge of an enormous Bengal tiger.
