Boat capsizes, 2 drown

KENDRAPARA: Two persons, including a 17 yearold girl, drowned on Tuesday when a boat capsized in the Brahmani river near Nilakanthapur village under Pattamundai block. Around 25 marooned villagers of Nilakanthpur were taking relief materials in the boat from Nilakanthpur gram panchayat office when the boat capsized. Except two, others managed to swim to safety. The deceased have been identified as Sumita Ray and Sobhagaya Das (22). Administration sought help of fire fighters to fish out the bodies.
Damodar Das, a villager of Nilakanthpur, who was also in the boat said as the administration was yet to reach out to them, they had gone to the gram panchayat office to collect the relief.
