HYDERABAD: There would be bloodshed if the state government fails to change the alignment of corridor-II passing through Sultan Bazar and Badichowdi, TRS leaders warned on Friday.The traders of Sultan Bazar, Badi Chowdi, Putli Bowli and their adjoining areas under the banner of Traders Joint Action Committee downed their shutters and observed complete bandh on Friday demanding change in the alignment of the Metro Rail project. They held rallies holding black flags and burnt ministers Mukesh Goud and Danam Nagender in effigies.TRS leader Nayini Narasimha Reddy warned chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that if government plans to go ahead with the Metro Rail project, there would be bloodshed and the government has to take full responsibility for the misadventure.Until the alignment of the corridor is changed, they would not keep quiet as the livelihood of 4 lakh people is at stake, the TRS leader said.Speaking at a meeting at Sultan Bazar X Roads , Narasimha Reddy said TRS is not against the Metro Rail project but alignment passing through the densely populated areas having rich heritage and cultural history would not be tolerated.He alleged that ministers Mukesh Goud and Danam Nagender were supporting the project as they received kickbacks running into crores of rupees.He challenged Mukesh Goud to move in Sultan Bazar, Badi Chowdi areas which fall in his constituency. He wondered why is the government not willing to call for an all-party meeting on the issue.TJAC convener M Kondaram said that they would support the traders’ crusade against the Metro Rail project.When most of the Metro Rails in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Mumbai, Bangalore were being laid underground, why not the same is being done in Hyderabad, he asked.Traders’ JAC president Govind Rathi said that the local ministers were giving false information that in corridor- II heritage buildings and other religious places would not be demolished but the GHMC has already issued land acquisition notices to many heritage buildings in these areas.The traders warned to intensify their agitation if no action is taken by the government.
