BJP MLA Warns Telangana Theatre Owners Against Screening Padmaavat
Singh said, “We will not allow the film’s release in Telangana either. We have informed cinema theatre owners that if they screen the film then they will have to bear losses and face the consequence.”

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh has warned cinema theatre owners of detrimental consequences if they go ahead and screen Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’.

Speaking at a public gathering, Singh said, “We will not allow the film’s release in Telangana either. We have informed cinema theatre owners that if they screen the film then they will have to bear losses and face the consequence.”

Singh said that despite raising objections about the film’s script, only the name has been changed from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmaavat’. “The film is distorting historical facts. It shows Brahmins and Rajput’s fighting against each other. If we are able to stop one film, no other film in future will play with our history, culture or religion.”

Singh also said that there were about 15 lakh Rajputs in the city and that they have been informed to protest theatres screening the movie in other constituencies as well. The BJP MLA had earlier threatened to burn theatres if the film was released in Telangana.

The movie, which will be released on January 25, has been banned in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
