Lucknow:After the murder of a cop on duty by cow-vigilantes in Bulandshahar on Monday, now a leader of the Bhartyiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP), was found dead under mysterious circumstances near Badshahnagar Railway crossing in Lucknow.
Pratyishmani Tripathi, 34, was attacked on Monday night in Badshahnagar. He was left bleeding on the road.
According to the police, he was rushed to the trauma centre at the King George's Medical University (KGMU) where he was declared dead on arrival.
“We got a call from a commuter about a person injured in an accident was lying near the tracks. We reached the spot and took the person to KGMU Trauma Centre , where doctors declared him brought dead,” Circle Officer of Mahanagar, Santosh Kumar Singh, said.
Shortly after midnight, hundreds of his supporters protested outside the hospital, raised anti-police slogans and demanded the immediate suspension of Lucknow Senior Superintendent of Police Kalanidhi Naithani.
The agitating crowd alleged that Tripathi had informed the district police chief about threats to his life and asked for security but the request was not paid heed to.
Pratima Tripathi, the wife of the deceased has alleged that her husband was murdered. In a written police complaint, she has stated the names of five men who, according to her, are behind the death as they had attacked Pratyishmani only few days ago.
She has further demanded police security for her family and said that strict action against the culprits must be taken.
However according to sources, doctors suspect that the injuries on the body of the deceased are accident injuries. However, the cause of the death can only be ascertained after the post-morterm is conducted.
