BELLARY: Faced with a tough challenge from its erstwhile loyalist-turned-foe B Sriramulu in the Bellary by-election, the state BJP on Saturday released an exclusive blueprint for the overall development of the city and surrounding areas. The blueprint has as many as 18 promises ranging from construction of a four-lane highway between Bellary and Hospet to providing clean and safe drinking water to Bellary and surrounding villages. These promises, according to the BJP, will be fulfilled in the remaining 18 months of its tenure. After releasing the blueprint, former minister and BJP MLA Aravind Libavali said that it was brought out not keeping the by-election in mind, but after realising the hardships the common people were facing in the district. Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda will personally oversee the implementation of these promises before the end of the BJP government’s tenure, he added. What catches the eye is the promise to remove encroachments in Bellary city and withdrawal of cases against farmers who had protested the land acquisition for Bellary airport. Both appeared to have figured in the manifest with an intention to hit back at the Reddys.
