A Bengaluru-bound Air India Express flight, carrying around 137 passengers, made an emergency landing in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli due to a technical glitch.
The Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru service encountered the issue mid-air, prompting the safe landing, according to sources at the airport.
Following the landing, all passengers disembarked from the flight, while the technical crew commenced attending to the fault.
An Air India Express spokesperson confirmed that the flight “was diverted to Tiruchirappalli due to a technical issue.”
A replacement aircraft is being organised to operate the flight to Bengaluru. We are providing all administrative arrangements and regret the inconvenience caused to the travel schedule (of passengers),” the spokesperson added.

The flight, AI 807, departed from Delhi with 175 passengers bound for Bengaluru but was forced to turn back and safely land at the national capital’s Indira Gandhi International Airport around 6:38 pm. This decision came after a fire was reported in its air conditioning unit.
“Air India flight AI807 flying from Delhi to Bengaluru Air returned to Delhi this evening after a fire warning from its auxiliary power unit. After the pilots exercised the necessary protocols, the aircraft made an uneventful landing and all passengers and crew deplaned at the aerobridge safely,” Air India spokesperson stated.
In another incident on Thursday, an Air India flight bound for Delhi collided with a luggage tractor while taxiing towards the runway for takeoff at Pune Airport. As a result of the collision, around 200 passengers were left stranded at Pune Airport following the incident.
According to airport officials, the collision caused damage to one of the aircraft’s wings and a tire. The incident occurred while approximately 180 passengers were on board.
“The aircraft, carrying around 180 passengers, suffered damage to its nose and a tyre near the landing gear. Despite the collision, all passengers and crew on board are reported to be safe,” an official said.
