BANGALORE: Managing Director of the Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited K G Jagadish has called upon government departments and service providers to adopt the methods through which banks provide satisfactory services to the customers.Speaking at a programme organised to mark the World Consumers Day, he said, “In India, by and large, banking sector is the only sector which is well organised and protects the interest of the customers by providing a satisfactory service. The government departments and service providers should adopt the same principles in protecting Consumer Rights.“The sellers should be aware of the consumer rights and not just the customers, so that they know the penalty provisions if they violate the rules,” he observed.Speaking after unveiling this year’s World Consumer Rights Day theme ‘Our Money, Our Rights’ to create awareness among citizens about the consumer rights, Commissioner of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, K H Govindaraj said, “Everyone should question about the description on every product they purchase and ensure that there are no hidden costs. The customers should know the intricacies of all cost or else they will be cheated.”
