CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch, on Saturday, arrested a marketing executive of a private bank for impersonating and forging documents to avail many bank loans. Police said K Bharanitharan of Kannadasan Nagar, who was working as a marketing executive at a private bank, had collected documents from the complainant (his name is also K Bharanitharan), who hails from Arumbakkam, in 2008 under the guise of getting him a job. But the executive had used the documents to obtain several loans from banks. The accused had used his own photo and address and the complainant’s name and his father’s name to avail the loans. But as the accused failed to repay the loans, the complainant’s name was listed in the credit information Bureau as a defaulter and could not avail any loan, police said.Following a complaint from Bharanitharan, police arrested marketing executive Bharanitharan.Couple Succumb to Burn InjuriesA domestic quarrel turned tragedy as a couple succumbed to burn injuries in a hospital on Saturday after an auto driver attempted to rescue his wife when she set herself on fire at Secretariat Colony police limits.Police said Venkateswaran and his wife Lakshmi on Wednesday, had a fight when the woman set herself on fire. A shocked Venkateswaran attempted to rescue her but both ended up with severe burns. They were admitted to a hospital but died on Saturday. Hoax Bomb ThreatA bomb threat call made to a corporation school in Kodambakkam turned out to be hoax on Saturday. Police said that the police received a phone call on Saturday morning and the anonymous caller said that a bomb had been placed in the school at Puliyur, Kodambakkam. Police were alerted and after an intensive search, it was found to be hoax. They suspect that a school student could be involved in the hoax threat call. Police registered a case and are investigating.
