Bangkok: Two airports in Bangkok have been completely shut down by protesters demanding the ouster of the Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.
Jet Airways and Air India have cancelled flights to Bangkok.
One person was wounded, when the Suvarna-bhoomi International Airport was shut down after a blast.
Three others were wounded at Don Muang International Airport.
All flights are being diverted to the military airport at Utapao. Anti government protestors stormed the main airport, three of them entering the control tower.
Close to 3,000 passengers are stranded at airports with little hope of clearance.
Seventy eight flights have been affected in all including at least two Air India flights that have landed at Utapao.
The demonstrators want Prime Minister Somchai to quit. They say his government is actually being run by disgraced former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
In a turn of event, the army has voiced its support to the protesters. The army chief has urged the prime minister to quit.
