Badaun: 2 arrested for trying to set ablaze DSO
A mob of over 150 people had allegedly tried to set ablaze the DSO after he sealed a fair price shop selling adulterated diesel.

Badaun: Two more persons were on Saturday arrested for allegedly trying to set ablaze the district supply officer in Dehgava village after he sealed a fair price shop. Vivek and Manoj Bhardwaj have been arrested in connection with the attack on DSO Neeraj Singh on Thursday night, Senior Superintendent of Police Manjil Saini said.

She said while four persons have been arrested, main accused Girish Chandra had surrendered. The SSP said that raids were being carried out to arrest other accused as well. A mob of over 150 people had allegedly tried to set ablaze the DSO after he sealed a fair price shop selling adulterated diesel. An FIR was lodged against 154 people, including 150 unidentified people, for the attack.

The incident took place when on a tip off DSO Singh raided fair price shop owner Girish Chandra's house and found him mixing kerosene with diesel. Finding this, the officer sealed the shop of Girish. While returning from there, he was surrounded by a mob including women, which tried to set him afire by sprinkling kerosene on him. The officer managed to escape from the spot and informed senior officers about the incident. Two of the named accused, Rinku and Tinku, were arrested on Friday.
