New Delhi: It’s been four days since Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) supremo Parkash Singh Badal was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab, but he has not been able to allot portfolios to his council.
Badal, who took over as CM with 17 Cabinet rank ministers, has attributed the delay to the alliance partner BJP
Answering reporters' questions in Chandigarh on Tuesday afternoon, Badal said that BJP system of working is different.
"They (Punjab leaders) have to get clearance (for the same) from Delhi (BJP High Command)," news agency PTI the 82-year-old politician as saying.
He added that as soon as the BJP gives its consent the portfolios would be announced and he was clear on allotting portfolios to ministers belonging to his party.
Badal said that he had talked to the BJP leaders in Chandigarh who are awaiting clearance from their High Command.
He declined to make any comment on a question relating to reported demands of the BJP for the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
BJP leaders of the state have also maintained silence on the issue declining to speak out anything on the issue.
