At This Thiruvananthapuram Restaurant, APJ Abdul Kalam Had His Meals For 21 Years
A famous restaurant in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram has claimed that APJ Abdul Kalam used to eat at his restaurant.

APJ Abdul Kalam was one of the most renowned aerospace scientists and politicians who was loved by all. He was the 11th President of India. The Missile Man of India was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. He has contributed immensely to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He was referred to as the People’s President. APJ Abdul Kalam lived a humble life — focusing on education, writing and public service. The man was known to be simple, despite his stature and accomplishments. Now, recently, a famous restaurant owner has claimed that APJ Abdul Kalam used to eat at his restaurant.

In Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, there is a famous restaurant named Sree Guruvayurappan Hotel. As per the restaurant owner, APJ Abdul Kalam used to eat at this hotel for 21 years. Owner Parameswaran Nair and his son Rajiv Parameswaran recalled the simplicity of the dignitary. As per Parameswaran Nair, APJ Abdul Kalam always maintained a cordial relationship with everyone he met. They even called him “down-to-earth”.

The restaurant owner shared with the former President used to eat two breads and a glass of milk every morning. They claimed that he used to eat less and quickly. But one thing they remember is that he would never sit even if he was forced. They further claimed that APJ Abdul Kalam loved to remain close to the common people and preferred simplicity.

The restaurant has photos of APJ Abdul Kalam as well. Apart from this, there are also photos of KJ Yesudas and his family. The restaurant owner claims that Sree Guruvayurappan Hotel is where the TV satire Munshi was planned. They shared that he was not interested in any particular dish and would eat whatever was served. Generally, non-veg dishes are not served here. During the afternoon hours, fish is available. Apart from this, lentils, rice, pappadam and other dishes are available.
