KOCHI: A faction of Kerala Students Union from the Maharaja’s College has urged senior Congress leader and Defence Minister A K Antony to intervene in the issue of alleged attack on A A Ajmal, who recently resigned as college union chairman. Ajmal and KSU Maharaja’s college unit president Nisam P S met Antony at the guest house on Wednesday and gave a written complaint in this regard. No action was taken against KSU district president Tito Antony and state secretary Abdul Sabeer for their alleged attack on Ajmal and other KSU activists, the complaint stated. Antony had assured them of taking action on the issue.  The leaders said that Titu Antony and Abdul Sabeer attacked them without any provocation at a function where newspapers were being distributed at the High Court junction at the time of the strike of the newspaper agents in the state. Once Ajmal and others reached the college, the two along with ABVP activists manhandled Ajmal and others, they alleged in the complaint. The members, belonging to the V D Satheesan group, said that they had already complained to Union Minister Vayalar Ravi on this issue but no action was taken. Meanwhile, the KSU district committee that was called on Wednesday could not meet for lack of quorum. A total of seven members from the A group and the V D Satheesan group kept away from the meeting. The KSU state committee which met here on Monday had also discussed the issues regarding the resignation of Ajmal.  The meeting held under the supervision of NSU(I) national secretary Taranga Gogoi at the KPCC Bhavan in Kochi, had received complaints from the leaders.
