CHENNAI: An army recruitment rally will be conducted under the aegis of the HQ Recruiting Zone, Chennai by the Recruiting Office (HQ) Chennai from  November 15 to November 20 at the Tamil Nadu Special Police Training Centre, Avadi (Veerapuram). Eligible candidates from the districts of Thiruvallur, Vellore, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Tiruvannamalai, Villipuram, Chennai and the Union Territory of Puducherry can participate in the rally to enroll themselves in the Indian Army as a soldier, technical/nursing assistant, general duty, tradesmen or clerk/store keeper. Soldier technical and soldier nursing assistant from all eight districts will be screened on  November 15.  Soldier general duty candidates from Vellore, Cuddalore, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts will be screened on November 16. Soldier general duty candidates of Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Chennai and Puducherry will be screened on November 17. Soldier tradesmen candidates of Thiruvallur, Vellore, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Chennai and Puducherry (UT) will be screened on November 18. Soldier clerks and soldier store keepers technical from all eight districts will be screened on November 19. Defence security corps from all eight districts will be screened on all days.Eligibility for those applying for the position of soldier technical is 10 +2/Intermediate (XII) passed with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English.  A 10 +2/Intermediate (XII) passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 50 per cent marks in aggregate and a minimum of 40 per cent marks in each subject is necessary for those looking to becoming a  nursing assistant. Eligibility for soldier general duty is SSLC/Matric graduate with 45 per cent marks (aggregate) and a minimum of 35 per cent in each subject. Higher qualification is eligible too, but should have passed SSLC/Matric.Eligibility for soldier tradesmen (Safaiwala and masalchi) is Class 8 Passed.  For all other trades, it is 10 passed/ITI qualification in respective trades.  The age limit for Soldier General Duty is 17 years 6 months to 21 years (born between 15 Nov 1988 to 15 May 1994).
