KHAMMAM: Another rabies death was reported at Bhagavath Tanda in Kusumanchi mandal.B Ramesh, a labourer of Bhagavat Tanda, migrated to Hyderabad a few years ago for livelihood. He came to his native village on July 5 for attending a function at his relatives’ house. His 9-year-old son Santhosh was bitten by a stray dog.On the same day, Ramesh took his son to Nallakunta fever hospital in Hyderabad.But anti-rabies vaccine was not administered to Santosh at the hospital.Later, he went to Narayanaguda blood bank hospital, where the doctors administered anti-rabies vaccine to Santhosh. But Santhosh developed hydrophobia and was admitted to a private hospital in Dilsukhnagar.Though Ramesh spent Rs 40,000 for his son’s medical treatment, Santhosh did not recover.On the advice of the hospital doctors, Ramesh brought his son to his native village on Thursday. Later, the boy was admitted to government hospital in Khammam, where he succumbed to the dog bite.
