Jammu: Former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta on Thursday filed a writ petition in the High Court (HC) here to seek Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the porn CD case, which was reopened again on the direction of a lower court.
Anara filed the petition in which she said she did not have faith in the police probe and hence wanted CBI investigations.
Anara was arrested on October 24, 2004 and allegedly kept in illegal onfinement and tortured by the police.
J&K police's Crime Branch, after completion of investigation in the matter, filed a final report before the HC and Jammu Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Sanjay Dhar for closure of the case as nothing was found against her.
While the HC allowed the closure of the case in December 2005, Dhar rejected the plea and directed the Director General of Police (DGP) in May 2006 for fresh investigations into the case.
The DGP constituted a Special Investigating Team comprising Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Aziz Khan, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashok Sharma, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, North and Inspector Lal Chand in August 2006.
The team has not started investigations so far.
A similar petition filed by social activist Amit Chouhan for a CBI probe is bending before a Division Bench at Srinagar.
