Dear DGP sir,You say rapes are not a failure of the police but partly the fault of the girl dressing provocatively. Sir..

Dear DGP sir,You say rapes are not a failure of the police but partly the fault of the girl dressing provocatively. Sir, tell that to her parents. Tell them that her freedom was trespassed upon because of a plunging neckline or a bobbing hem. Tell them “Your daughter deserved it.” But don’t make the mistake of telling them, “I failed. It was my duty to protect her.” And take your deserved place amongst the hordes of chauvinistic boors who disgrace the nation. I thought the job of a policeman was to ensure protection-regardless of what a girl wore. But apparently not: the police force stops caring for you the minute you put on a negligee. When a brutetruck mocks a red-light and hurtles down a road to run over someone at a zebra crossing, do you prosecute the truck driver? Or do you mock the hapless victim for being there? Your statement, apart from reflecting a callous mindset, reeks of chauvinism. Why is it that a guy can roam the streets, but a girl needs to get home before it is dark? Why is it that a guy can wear low-waist jeans, while a girl can’t wear a miniskirt? Why is it that when it’s a guy, he is a “stud”, but when it’s a girl she is a “slut”? Don’t tell me “that’s the way the world works.” If it works that way, then it ain’t working right.Yours sincerelyRN
