BHUBANESWAR: Candidates aspiring admission to the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, are in a dilemma as its entrance examination date clashes with that of Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) scheduled for May 6.Those willing to take test for admission to the prestigious college will have to skip the Odisha test and vice versa. A number of parents and other student bodies had petitioned the JEE authorities seeking a change in the schedule. However, the JEE authorities said they are in no position to make any change as JEE admission schedule will go haywire.“If we do not conduct JEE on May 6, we will have to wait till July to hold it because some important all Indian tests are being held during May-June period,” JEE Committee Vice-Chairman Dr Sitaram Mohapatra said. The Odisha JEE was originally planned keeping in view the schedules of IIT-JEE, CLAT and AIPMT so that the dates do not clash. However, any change in the current schedule will badly hit admission dates which will be stretched as far as October. This, the JEE authorities apprehend, will work against students seeking admission to engineering colleges which are, as it is, facing large-scale vacancies. “We had received applications over the matter but we have to keep in mind the interests of a large number of candidates,” Mohapatra said.
