KENDRAPARA: As many as 65 tribal students of a residential school were hospitalised on Tuesday at Tikhiri village under Mahakalpada block. All of them are in primary classes. A teacher of the school informed that all the students were taken ill after consuming water from the tube-well on the campus. In the absence of drinking water facility, the students are mostly dependent on the tube-well. There are around 196 students enrolled in the school.The affected students have been admitted to the PHC in Tikhiri. The attending doctors said the students suffered from measles and water-borne diseases. Some of them were also found to be suffering from malaria. A medical team has been sent to the school to take stock of the situation. District Welfare Officer Charulata Mallick and district administration officials too reached the school, said Collector PK Patnaik.
