Nearly 60 lakh devotees have performed the Goverdhan 'parikrama' as part of this year's Mudiya Poono fair in Mathura, sources said. There was a huge rush of pilgrims who arrived to make a round of Goverdhan hill after taking a dip in the waters of the Manasi Ganga.

"(But) despite the heavy rush, no untoward incidents have been reported so far," said the officer for the fair, Avinash Sharma.

Several organisations have set up langars, or communal kitchens, which are serving food and refreshments to the people, he added. Strangely enough, the parikrama is on in full swing even though the procession of disciples of 'Sanatan Goswami' was taken out on Monday evening.

"Normally, the procession of the disciples marks the end of the fair," said Shankar Lal Chaturvedi, the mahant of Ramanand Ashram.
