MYSORE: More than 51,795 students will appear for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (K- SET), an eligibility examination for college lecturers, which will be held in eleven nodal centres and 76 examination centres. The examination is being held after a gap of seven years.Addressing the media here on Saturday, Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore Prof V G Talwar said that there will be three papers in the examination, including tests on research aptitude; candidates will be provided with a test booklet of 60 objective questions, of which 50 questions need to be answered.A second paper, also comprising objective type questions on the subject selected by the candidate, will be provided. This will be followed by paper III with 19 descriptive questions from syllabus of the selected subject.The invigilators at the examination centres will be asked to circulate one among the three sets of question papers to the candidates prior to the commencement of the examinations, which will be in Kannada and English, he added.UoM Registrar (Evaluation) Ramu said that the varsity was working on preparations for the K-SET examinations for the last five months. He said that the descriptive papers will be valued if the candidates from general category, group 1 and SC/ST categories obtain aggregate of 90, 80 and 70 marks, respectively.Efforts will be made to announce results at the earliest and malpractice will be curbed, he added.
