Even as the public outburst over ever increasing infant deaths at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital is refusing to die down, fiver more deaths were reported in the hospital here on Saturday alone.
All the babies were two and four-days old.
The babies of Swapna and Satish from Kotapalli in Adilabad district, Madhavi and Ajay from Hanamkonda, Vasantha and Raju from Chelpuru, Bismillah and Akbar from Madikonda and Anusha and Suman from Butchireddypalem died on Saturday while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The bereaved families led by MGM Hospital Parirakshana Committee members Bhupathi Krishna Murthy and Gudimalla Ravikumar staged a protest in front of the hospital alleging that the infants died due to shortage of ventilators.
AIDWA and CPM activists also staged a dharna protesting against the deaths.
