HYDERABAD: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday said that Andhra Pradesh will be the campaign state for national mission for employment generation. He said the state would dovetail the national mission and would integrate all departments concerned to achieve the ambitious goal of creating five lakh jobs per year.Advisor to Prime Minister S Rama Dorai positively responded to the request and explained to the chief minister the national-level efforts in this regard.Rama Dorai and his team had a detailed review meeting with chief minister, school education minister and other officials at the Secretariat here on Monday. The chief minister said unemployment is more in rural areas as the SSC and Inter passed students feel that they are more educated to take up agriculture work. When it comes to jobs in industries they are unskilled and thus stand no chance of getting jobs there. He said the government is now concentrating on employability to rural youth and prevent their migration to urban areas.Rama Dorai appreciated the efforts of the state government for starting skill development centres and JKCs in all colleges.Efforts are on to amend the NREGA to include skill developments in the scheme, he said. “We are in touch with the rural development ministry and we will seek the help of Andhra Pradesh in this regard,’’ Rama Dorai said.“We are constituting a committee which will include representatives from Nabard, banks, ministry of finance and PMO and the Planning Commission,’’ he said.State officials said while there is a high degree of unemployment, there is a big demand for skilled personnel. The gap is due to lack of soft skills among rural, disadvantaged sections; lack of opportunities and lack of skills needed by the industry and the service sector.
