35-year-old elephant found dead at Rajaji national park

An elephant was found dead on Friday in Kunau forests of Rajaji National Park's Gauhri range. Injury marks on the carcass of the 35-year-old male elephant suggest that it died in a fight with another pachyderm, Assistant Director of the park HK Singh said.

However, a post mortem is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of its death, he said. The four-feet long tusks of the elephant were unharmed, he said.
