New Delhi: This has been the most successful year for counter-insurgency in Kashmir in last several years. Around 110 militants have been killed in Kashmir in the last seven months alone. And they include Lashkar commander Bashir Ahmad Wani, Hizb commander Sabzar Bhat and now Lashkar commander Abu Dujana.
Late in May, the Army had released a list of 12 most wanted men in Kashmir. Big names such as Pulwama ‘district commander’ Showkat Tak alias Huzaifa, Shopian ‘commander’ Wasim Ahmed alias Osama and Zeenat-ul-Islam alias Alkama (LET), and Dujana’s associate Abu Hamas, were on that list.
News18 visits the same list, of which three have now been killed, to show the progress security forces have made since the last three months.
