Mumbai: Three Maharashtra government officials, who were arrested in connection with a missing file related to the scam-tainted Adarsh Housing Society, were on Tuesday granted bail by a city magistrate.
The bail was granted to the trio, working in the Urban Development Department, as CBI failed to file charge sheet against them within the stipulated 60 days of their arrest.
Gurudatt Wajpe, NN Narvekar and Waman Rawool, arrested on May 5, were ordered to be released on bail on a bond of Rs one lakh each by the magistrate.
The court had earlier rejected their bail plea. Aggrieved, they had moved the special CBI court which also had dismissed their plea on June 19.
CBI has charged the accused with playing important role in the disappearance of important documents from the Urban Development Department office last October after the multi-crore scam related to the high rise residential building in South Mumbai came to light.
It was Rawool who had lodged the initial police complaint about the missing file.
