3 held for selling away government land

Three persons were arrested on Tuesday for forging documents of Bhoodan land and selling it to gullible people.

Amrutamma, a social worker, P Krishna, Shanker Naik (all from Singareni Colony), M Kumara Rajagopal of Kadapa and A Balaji of Shalibanda have been named as the accused in the case.

 Amrutamma, Krishna and Rajagopal were arrested while the others are at large.

 The 20.17 acre Bhoodan land in Adibatla village of Ibrahimpatnam mandal belongs to the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).  It was alloted to the APIIC in 2006 for development of a hardware park.

The accused sold the land to the residents of the Singareni Colony and other slums by dividing it into 100 yard plots.

They collected Rs 50,000 for each plot.

The Ibrahimpatnam police acted on the basis of a complaint by a victim, Jahangeer Pasha.
