New Delhi: Debutant director Abhishek Varman's '2 States' has entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club in its fourth week of release. The film has earned Rs 102.13 crores since its 17th April release.
Produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is based on Chetan Bhagat's best selling novel by the same name and features new actors Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead role.
Ever since its first look was launched, the film had been generating quite a lot hype. Tarde Analyst confirmed the news on Twitter on Monday about the film's Box Office collection and declared it as a super-hit.
The film's success will not only help debutant director Abhishek Varman's career but also the two lead actors. Alia, who was riding high on the success of 'Highway' has managed to have two hits in the first half of 2014. Arjun's earlier release this year, 'Gunday' may have failed, but the success of the film will give the young actor's career a boost. Both the actors have films lined up for release in the second half of 2014. While Alia will be seen romancing Varun Dhawan in 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania', Arjun Kapoor will be next seen in an English film 'Finding Fanny Fernandes' with Deepika Padukone and then in December he will have 'Tevar' releasing.
