New Delhi: A 15-year-old boy from Chennai has set a new Guinness record in solving puzzle cubes. Kesava Kirupa solved 293 puzzles in one hour.
The previous record was held by French Thomas Watiotenna, who solved 210 puzzles in the same time.
Kirupa broke the record in only 44 minutes. "During my practice runs - first time I got 289, second time was around 270 and third time was 281 and fourth time was 284. I'm really happy that I managed to pull off a better score at an official place rather than doing it at home. I managed a 293 here and I'm happy," said Kirupa.
"I'm really happy that I'm doing this for myself and for India itself. I'm pulling this off for the nation so I'm extremely happy," Kirupa added.
Vivek Prasad Mada, an eye-witness, said, "Most 3/3 cubes solved in one hour and we got a staggering number of 293, the previous record was 210. So it was broken by a very good number. In India there are lots of children who are extremely talented with respect to cubing and in the cubing community also all the national records are all held by them only."
