THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the accident where two persons were killed en route to the hospital, the 108 ambulance service has issued a statement restricting the number of bystanders to two. The Emergency Management Team (EMT) of 108 ambulance has requested people to understand the potential safety issues when more than two people accompany the patient. “Too many people pose lots of difficulties for the EMT in attending to the patients,” the statement says.  Recently, a patient’s bystanders manhandled a 108 staffer when he objected to five people accompanying the patient.   “In view of such situation, there is an urgent need to create awareness regarding the restriction on the number of bystanders. Safety of the patient is our prime responsibility. Therefore, we humbly request every citizen of Thiruvananthapuram to kindly adhere to the instructions provided during the call and also to cooperate with the EMT to help the patient/victim by not creating a crowd inside the ambulance,” said V Radheesh, general manager of 108 ambulances in a statement.
