1 dead, 50 injured as school bus turns turtle

PUDUCHERRY: A student died and over 50 students were injured when a school bus overturned at Manamedu on the Bahour-Kadavunur route on Monday.Hemavathi, a Standard VII student of a government school in Bahour, was travelling in the bus that got involved in the accident. She died at the Cuddalore Government Hospital, where she was taken after suffering some injuries. Several of the injured are critical. Some have been admitted in the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital in Puducherry, while others were taken to the Cuddalore General Hospital. The incident happened around 5 pm. The bus turned turtle while negotiating a bad road. It fell straight into a field on the roadside.
