December 2023 will witness several big-ticket movies, including Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, Prabhas’ Salaar, Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha, Katrina Kaif’s Merry Christmas — all slated to release in December 2023. Most cinema enthusiasts were left shocked after Hombale Films announced that Salaar would hit the cinemas on December 22, 2023. That’s when Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki will also hit the theatres. Given the clash between them, the makers of Saindhav have postponed the release of their film.
Saindhav was earlier scheduled to be released on December 22, 2023. Directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the film has now got a new release date. It will be released on January 13 next year. The film will mark the debut of Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the Telugu entertainment industry. It is worth mentioning that the makers have decided to release the film in January despite many other projects releasing on the same date. Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Karam, Eagle, Naa Saami Ranga, Hanuman, and Vijay Deverakonda’s Family Star are already scheduled to release on the same date.
Reportedly, the makers have stepped in with the decision to postpone the release date to avoid a clash with Prabhas’s much-awaited Salaar. Earlier, when the news about the new release date of Salaar broke, it sparked absolute chaos in the Telugu film industry with people saying “It will be tough for these films to stand their ground opposite mighty Salaar.”
Besides Saindhav, films including Nithiin’s Extra Ordinary Man, Nani’s Hi Nanna, and Sudheer Babu’s Harom Hara were also eyeing the Christmas 2023 release. Now with the film scheduled to release on a particular date, their plans might get ruined.
Speaking of the clash between Salaar and Dunki, trade experts believed that it could have been avoided. They think that the clash between both films may cause a loss of around 30 per cent to both films. Moreover, it could have hurt the business of Saindhav which boasts an ensemble star cast of Venkatesh Daggubati, Arya, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shraddha Srinath, and Andrea Jeremiah, among others.
