O Saathiya, a romance-drama starring Aryan Gowra and Mishti Chakraborty, hit theatres on July 7 this year. The movie had a respectable budget and promotions were kept simple, not going too over the top. The Divya Bhavana directorial had a screenplay by Aryan and Deepu. It was produced by Chandana Katta under Thanvika Jashwika Creations. The movie got off to a good start, but later, it suffered a slight slump at the box office. It received positive reviews from critics and despite recovering its cost, it emerged as just a moderate success.
After little more than a month, O Saathiya started streaming on OTT giant Amazon Prime and from the looks of it, has received an overwhelming response from viewers.
According to recent reports, the movie has already run for 50 million minutes on the OTT platform. For a small film with no big stars, the producers consider clocking 50 million minutes to be a huge accomplishment. Speaking about this, the film’s producer, Chandana Katta, claims that O Saathiya is an emotional love story that OTT viewers have been able to relate to, which is why their movie has amassed the aforementioned 50 million minutes of viewing time. He also said that the story was appealing to not only the youth but also to the family audience and hence the movie received all the love and adulation from all corners.
The simple plot of O Saathiya centres on the highs and lows of the romance between two college sweethearts. After a lengthy absence, Mishti Chakraborty returned to Telugu cinema, and her performance in the movie was praised. The first part of the movie, which has been kept lighthearted, piques the interest of the viewer, while the second half of the movie concentrates on emotions. The story involves Arjun (Aryan Gaura) who meets Keerthy by chance while attending his college doing his B.Tech. in Vizag. They begin to date each other. However, as things go on, Ajay is surprised to discover that his love interest Keerthy has disappeared. His journey towards reclaiming his love forms the rest of the story.
