When you need to reset a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, you can choose between a hard reset or a soft reset, depending on your needs. Always back up data before doing a reset, as you'll likely lose all third-party apps and information, and it's best to be on the safe side with respect to ensuring you keep all that you need.
Hard Reset Using the Settings App
Go to Settings.
Select Privacy (Backup & Reset).
Choose Factory Data Reset.
Choose Reset Phone (or Reset tablet).
Select Erase everything.
Wait until the reset is finished.
Hard Reset Using Code

Enter *2767*3855#.
Wait for the reset to complete.
Hard Reset Using Android System Recovery or ClockworkMod Recovery
Power off your device.
Hold Power+Vol down+Home. (On Screen button devices is Power+Vol down).
Choose Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
Choose Yes, Delete All User Data.
Wait for the data wipe to accomplish.
