How to Access the Secret PS5 Web Browser

Using the System Menu

Open your PS5's System Settings. Select the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen, then select System on the right side.

Click the boxes to "Allow Cookies" and "Enable JavaScript." Once you toggle these, return to the main Settings menu.

Select Network. It'll be on the right side of your screen in the Settings menu.

Select View PlayStation Network Status. Another window will open.

Scroll down and click the YouTube icon. The red YouTube social icon is at the bottom of the page.

Click Sign In. Don't worry! You won't actually need to sign in to continue using the web browser, but you can sign in with your Google account if you'd like.

Click Privacy. If you didn't sign in, choose this option at the bottom of the box to log in. Skip this step if you signed in.

Click the 3x3 grid icon. It's in the top right corner next to "Sign in" or your username.

Select Google Search. It's the icon of a multicolored "G" with "Search" below it. Now you can use your PS5 web browser to visit any website. To browse the web, search for a website or topic in Google, then navigate to those websites from the search page.

Sending a Link

Open a message to any friend. Another way to access the PS5 web browser is to access Google by sending a link to a friend. To get started: Go to the Home screen of your PS5 and navigate to your Game Base. It's between the bell and music notes at the bottom of the screen. Click the "Messages" section to open it. Select any chat with a friend.

Send a message that says google.com. The system will convert that to a clickable link.

Click the link. This opens the PS5 web browser to Google.com so you can browse the internet.

PS5 Web Browser Limitations

The browser is not an app, but a hidden feature. The PS4 had a web browser app that made browsing easy, but Sony didn't create a web browser app for PS5. Since not many people used the web browser app on previous consoles, Sony decided to focus on other things. Some limitations: There's no address bar, so you can't go to a website by typing its URL. You'll need to search for it on Google instead. It doesn't support all website formats, so websites may not display properly. You can't install browser extensions like ad-blockers and privacy plugins. There's no way to add bookmarks.
