New Delhi: The last time they squared off, it ended in a hard-fought draw but Delhi Waveriders and Uttar Pradesh Wizards will be keen to fetch an outright win when they meet again in the Hero Hockey India League here tomorrow.
Having played against each other on the very second day of the league, both Delhi Waveriders and Uttar Pradesh Wizards engaged in a tough brawl, where the match concluded in a 2-2 draw.
With both the sides showcasing much agility, the spectators will once again get a chance to witness a nail biting combat between the two.
Riding high on success, with a total of 30 points in the league, Uttar Pradesh Wizards have shown immense potential from the beginning of the tournament and have proved to be a threat to almost every team in the league.
The defending champions Delhi Waveriders, on the other hand is trailing with just 23 points in hand and will be looking at synchronising with the right rhythm, before entering the knock-out stage.
Speaking on the team's current form, Coach Cedric D'souza of Delhi Waveriders said, "The team has been consistent with its performance in the league till now. Though, we have not bagged a lot of wins, we have been successful in giving a tough fight to almost every participating team. Uttar Pradesh Wizards is one of the strong teams in the league and we are well prepared for the clash."
"The team has worked on the circle penetrations and from here will work towards successfully converting the opportunities into goals. We gave a tough fight to the Wizards in our prior clash and will try to close the match on a winning note this time."
Speaking on the clash against Delhi Waveriders, Coach Roelant Oltmans of Uttar Pradesh Wizards said, "We want to continue our winning streak alive and continue winning the games. We want to go into the semi final with another win. This is our last league match and we want to enter the semi-final in the best possible way."
