Ashley Williams has reportedly desired to end his tenure at Swansea City and preferred Arsenal as his destination.

According to a report in The Telegraph , the Swansea captain who is at the threshold of his 29th birthday, believes its time to move on towards a new challenge. The New South Wales captain has played an instrumental role with the club since 2008.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have had a lot of big-name link-ups but nothing full-proof has come up with the exception of Gonzalo Higuain. The Gunners however, may have issues with the centre-back's valuation at £10 million.

Williams' contract has a year to go, but he is likely to inform manager Michael Laudrup of his intentions of leaving the club.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, however is uncertain about the speculations. "While there seems to be constant speculation about Ashley Williams, I can honestly say that I haven't had one call from anybody about him," Jenkins said.
