Cristiano Ronaldo once again made the headlines, but for all the wrong reasons, as the Al-Nassr superstar was seen slighting his own side with apopletic gestures after his side fell to Al Hilal 4-1 in the Saudi Super Cup final.
The Portuguese striker, who was still on the hunt for his first domestic trophy with the Saudi side, was poised to end his search, as Al Nassr took the initial lead with a scrappy goal from Ronaldo himself in the first half.
Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in December 2022 and set a league record last season with 35 goals, scored from close range in the 44th minute after being teed up by Abdulrahman Ghareeb.
With his goal, Ronaldo added to the history he had previously scripted against Al-Taawoun when he became the first player to score in 23 consecutive seasons of football, and he helped his side take the narrow lead, going into the halftime break.
But, all hell would break lose in the second half, as Al Hilal, spearheaded by Aleksandr Mitrovic up front, would run riot and score 4 goals in the second half, to go up 4-1 over Al Nassr.
The five-time Ballon D’or winner was visibly frustrated, gesturing at his defense line at their sleepiness that had led to them conceding four goals, and eventually leading to their demise in the fixture, as the Portuguese remains on the hunt for his first domestic trophy with the Saudi side.

Ronaldo was in utter shock and disbelief at his team’s play, especially with the way their goalkeeper surrendered the ball to Brazilian winger Malcom to let him score. The Portuguese star burst into histrionics in the centre circle, throwing in a lewd gesture to add insult to injury.
Al-Hilal, once again, beat the Ronaldo-led side to a trophy and start off the season on a high.
The new Saudi Pro League season will begin on Thursday, when Al Nassr host Al Raed.
