The Portuguese is reportedly set to run out in a home shirt at Old Trafford one more time.

Madrid: Plans are in place to line-up a sensational return to Manchester United for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo as part of Rio Ferdinand's testimonial, according to The Sun.

The Portuguese attacker is apparently set to run out in a home shirt at Old Trafford one more time, as part of the celebrations to mark the defender's 10 years with the club.

The former Leeds United man will be celebrating a decade of being a Red Devil and a special one-off game will be a part of the proposed year-long list of events and fundraisers to mark the feat.

Ronaldo is thought to be on the top of the list of players to participate in the game, but United will need to work around the Portugal international's timetable at Madrid.

Nothing will be discussed formally until after Euro 2012 and next summer's Olympics, but movement is already happening behind the scenes to bring the attacker back to Old Trafford for the first time since leaving in 2009.

Ronaldo arrived at Old Trafford in 2003, as the Red Devils' first Portuguese signing, for a mere £12.25 million. But six years later, the club sold him to Real for a world-record £80m.

Earlier, speaking about Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, who recently completed 25 years at the club, he said: "Sir Alex has a special place in my life."

"In fact, he was the main man. I was not famous, I was not a star. I arrived at Old Trafford as just another young talent."

"He was the one who told me to do all the right things. He gave me the opportunity to play in one of the biggest clubs in the world," Ronaldo told The Mirror.

"So he is one of the most important people in the world for me."
