Director of Football at Real Madrid, the legendary Zinedine Zidane has advised Tottenham Hotspur to let Gareth Bale talk to them if the player has expressed a desire to join the Spanish giants, who are reportedly preparing a record-breaking £100 million bid for the Spurs' star.
"It is not unusual, when a player knows that Real Madrid are interested in them, that they get excited. There is nothing more prestigious for a player than to wear the white of Real Madrid. If he has expressed a desire to join Real Madrid, then Tottenham should give him permission to speak with us," dailystar.co.uk quoted Zidane as saying.
"The chance to play for Real might come around only once in a player's life, and it is understandable that Gareth doesn't want to miss out," Zidane added.
Now that Bale has made it clear he wants to go, Spurs' chairman Daniel Levy might be ready to take it forward, but only on his terms. Meanwhile, World Cup-winner Zidane warned that Real won't relent until they get Bale to Bernabeu.
"We will not give up on Gareth Bale. It is normal that Tottenham want to keep him and make him sign a new contract. But it is impossible to forget a player of his quality. This is modern football. You have to pay to get the best players in Europe ... Those are the players that win you Champions Leagues and titles. He is already one of the finest players in Europe. He has everything needed to become the world's best player," said Zidane.
