Kangana Ranaut on Cloudburst in Kullu:

Kangana said, “It’s very disheartening. Last time also we had severe flooding in the areas of Himachal Pradesh. This time also, we are waking up to very alarming situations. Last night has been disastrous, especially in the Kullu district, which comes under Mandi constituency. As you know, Mr Narendra Modi ji, our Prime Minister ji has looked after the whole situation and he has made sure people who are missing, they are being found, things are being restored and people are being rescued. All of that he is looking after.”

She noted that due to the natural calamity, they also are facing a few limitations. “At the same time, we also some sort of limitations we have as human beings against nature. The red alert is still going on and I request people to refrain from going out right. As much as you, stay safe, keep your family safe and to the tourist that this is not the season to go to Himachal Pradesh. There are too many landslides right now,” Kangana said.

Advised Not To Travel to Mandi:

When asked if she plans to head to her constituency amid the cloudburst, Kangana said, she has been asked to wait until the high weather alerts wade off. “No, no, this is not the right time to go to Mandi. I can go by road right now and there are way too many landslides. I spoke to the DC this morning and she said ‘please don’t come. Let the rain settle, let the alerts pass and then (I will visit), and personally see things through,” she told us.

On Relief Funds:

Speaking about requesting relief funds, Kangana said, “We have still not emerged from the last time’s disaster. We had a massive disaster last time and we’ve been promised relief fund in this budget as well. What we can do is, we can ask for added relief fund depending on the impact of the disaster. We come from the mountains and the life of the mountain people is anyway so difficult. I won’t be surprised if on their own, they will give without asking, they add more significant amount to the already allotted relief fund.”

At the time of reporting, more than 50 people missing and 11 are dead in Shimla, Mandi and Kullu districts following cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukkhu assured that rescue and relief work is ongoing.
