NEET UG Paper Leak Case: Supreme Court Bench Led By CJI Chandrachud To Hear Petitions On July 8
As per the cause list for July 8 shared on the Supreme Court’s website, a batch of 26 petitions would be heard by the bench comprising CJI Chandrachud, and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.

A batch of petitions pertaining to the controversy over NEET-UG examination will come up for hearing before the Supreme Court on July 8.

A SC bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will be hearing the batch of petitions challenging the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Under Graduate (UG) and the paper leak controversy.

A few petitions also seek the apex court’s directions to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the NEET-UG exams again. The NEET-UG exams were held on May 5. The SC earlier refused to stay the counselling process for admission while the petitions are pending for hering.

The hearing will begin at 10:30 am on July 8. As per the Supreme Court’s daily cause list, the case of Shivangi Mishra and others versus National Testing Agency (NTA) and others will be heard by a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud. The bench will also include Justice JB Padriwala and Justice Manoj Mishra. As per the cause list for July 8 shared on the court’s website, a batch of 26 petitions would be heard before the bench.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started investigating the case of the leaked papers and several arrests were made including the kingpin from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. More than 23 lakh students had registered for the NEET UG exam and the results were declared on the result day of elections, June 4. The results were initially to be declared on June 14.

Even before the results were announced, there were multiple allegations of irregularities regarding NEET. As a result, several arrests were made on the charges of the paper leak. The investigation of the case was handed over to the CBI.

On June 20, many sought the scrapping of NEET UG and a re-examination. The apex court promised to “thoroughly deal” with the case “even if there was 0.001 per cent negligence”. Meanwhile, the NTA cancelled the grace marks that were awarded to 1,563 candidates.
