In KBC season 4, a jackpot question was introduced where the contestant could win Rs 5 crore.

Kaun Banega Crorepati aka KBC – one of the longest-running television reality shows in India hosted by Amitabh Bachchan – is currently in its 15th season. KBC premiered in July 2000 when the highest prize money was Rs 1 crore. In the next two seasons, the highest prize money doubled to Rs 2 crore. In KBC season 4, a jackpot question was introduced where the contestant could win Rs 5 crore.

In KBC season 7, the top prize was increased to a whopping Rs 7 crore and remained constant in the following six seasons. However, in season 14, the highest prize money was increased to Rs 7.5 million to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. KBC 15 continues with a prize money of Rs 7 crore.
