Neeraj Chopra joined an elite list of Indian athletes on Thursday (August 8) by winning his second medal in the Olympics. The 26-year-old from Haryana finished second in the men’s javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024. He touched the distance of 89.45 m in the second attempt, which was enough to guarantee him a place on the podium.
Neeraj’s second back-to-back Olympic medal helped him establish himself as India’s most successful individual athlete in Olympic history, and his feat was celebrated by Indians across the globe.
Among the list of legends who praised Neeraj for his super achievement was former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who took to X to share his happiness.
The 2011 World Cup winner wrote on social media that the Paris Olympic medallist has “brought a golden moment for every Indian heart.”
Yuvraj also did not forget to congratulate Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who won the gold medal by registering a record-breaking throw of 92.97 m.
“Proving yet again that his spirit to win is as unbreakable as his javelin’s flight. You have not only won a historic silver medal but have also brought a golden moment for every Indian heart. Here’s to the champion who reminds us all that even in silver, there lies a golden journey of perseverance and pride. Congratulations Neeraj Chopra medal India. Heartiest congratulations to #ArshadNadeem as well – for scripting history with an incredible 92.97m throw and breaking the Olympic record,” read the post shared by Yuvraj Singh on social media.
